Motorola have been making popular mid-range smartphones ever since the Z-range was released. However when it comes to technology, you must evolve with the times or risk dying. To try and evolve, Motorola have revealed their latest creation – the Moto Z3 Play. The Moto Z3 Play will introduce desirable features and bring the device inline with current 2018 smartphone standards.
In terms of design, the Moto Z3 Play takes the basic design features from the Moto Z2 Play. However it offers a number of subtle but significant improvements. A large screen, dual cameras and support for Moto Mod addons are just some of these improvements. Motorola say the Moto Z3 Play is the most flexible and accessible smartphones ever, and it certainly looks that way.
The Moto Z3 Play has already launched in a few Eastern markets, but will hit the rest of the globe later this month. Although they have yet to announce price information, it’s expected that Motorola will continue to offer premium performance at an affordable cost.
Robust
One of the most noticeable features of the Moto Z3 Play is the screen. It has a 6 inch Full HD Super Amoled display. This offers 13% more screen area and pixels per inch than the previous Moto Z2 Play. The cool thing is, that the Moto Z3 Play still keeps the same dimensions as the Moto Z2 Play. The Moto Z3 Play features edge-to-edge design, with the fingerprint sensor now on the side of the phone in order to maximise space for the display. It also features a one-button nav bar on the bottom of the face to improve usability.
The Moto Z3 Play also features dual 12MP and 5MP AI-powered cameras which offer advanced depth-sensing capabilities. The cameras have Google Lens built in, which means they can automatically recognise and provide information on surroundings. They have also upgraded the front-facing selfie camera to 8MP.
The Moto Z3 Play is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Processor (just like the Lenovo Z5), making it 30% faster than the Moto Z2 Play. It features 4GB of RAM and is available with 32Gb or 64Gb of expandable storage. The battery is fairly robust at 3,000mAh.
Moto Mods
One of the key features of the Moto Play Z3 is the compatibility with Moto Mods addons. These addons are magnetic and clip to the phone, offering a range of exciting new features. These features are interchangeable within seconds. Currently the Moto Mods range includes the following:
- Turbopower Pack
- JBL SoundBoost 2
- Insta-Share Projector
- Moto Smart Speaker
The Moto Mods are designed to be compatible with the entire Moto Z range, including future devices.
Overall the Moto Z3 Play offers all of the expected functionality of a mid-range smartphone. But what makes it different is the ability to add a higher quality, premium mobile experience with the addition of Moto Mods. No doubt over time the Moto Z3 Play will get better as more Moto Mods are added.
